CALL TO ORDER Peck's Lake Protective Association's Annual Meeting was opened by President Dolores Corsini, Saturday morning, September 3rd, 1989 in Peck's boat storage building. 41 members attended. Officers and Board members present were: Dan Phelan, Ron Holly, Joan Ireland. President Corsini thanked Dan and Ron for hosting the board meetings, Esther Neal on serving coffee to the golfers at the tournament, Joan on keeping the money in order, Kate Bergmann on planning the annual dinner, Bob Henderson on an excellent job as emcee at the dinner, Jean Stafford on the maps of the lake and to Brad Richards for organizing the golf match.
The Secretary's Report was read and accepted. The Treasurer's Report was read and accepted.
FISH STOCKING Jack Chamberlaine reported 1200 Smallmouth Bass stocked last year. The committee will perhaps restock every 2 or 3 years, as needed. Another year they will try to get another type of fish.
ROAD COMMITTEE Ron Holly reported Alan Gessinger, our Bleecker Road Supervisor, plans to pave North Shore Road from the intersection of Hemlock Drive to just past Lot 115, (Bergmanns'). Have patience as they coming along slowly as they have other jobs to do. Members hoped the paving would be finished this year. No report from South Shore on roads, they are okay.
NIAGARA-MOHAWK Ron reported cooperation with Jim Kearney on the lake level this season. Only one resident has questioned pulling the water down and not letting it go over the spillway. The lake has been very high this summer.
BYLAWS Ron Holly made the motion to clarify voting in the bylaws and Mary Wright seconded it. It was passed unanimously. Quote: "Members have one vote per lot, but only one lot may be used per member, no matter how many lots member owns.
WATERCRAFT Brad Richards said only 42 people responded to the survey by mail. Those wanted all three types of non-motorized watercraft suggested. It was not a good response. After going door-to-door, 85 responded: 65% wanted paddle boats; 75% wanted wind surfers; 75% wanted kayaks. This matter was turned over to the Peck Brothers.
CABLE TV Brad reported we need 73 signers to give to the cable company. The South Shore does not receive TV signals well.
OLD BUSINESS President Corsini read the covenant of our deeds of our property with regard to dogs. Hal Neal suggested if you have a problem, complain directly to the dog's owner. They usually respond quickly.
SPEEDING President Corsini has reports of speeding on the North Shore. Hank Wagner asked if we could have rustic signs on our roads. Hal Neal informed members that the present style signs are specified by the state.
NEW BUSINESS President Corsini reported she has had several contacts with Caroga Fire Chief, Fred Chappell. She has a map showing our fire zones on both North and South Shores. This will make it easier for fire engines or ambulances to find our individual lots. There will be information for each of us handed out after this meeting. Fire engines take 10 to 12 minutes to get here. When you call either Caroga or Meco fire departments, each will be alerted. Give your name, lot number and zone and which side of the lake. Have a fire extinguisher.
Jean Stafford asked if it is legal to burn in your yard. The answer is yes with a burning permit from the Forest Ranger. Please put reflective numbers out near the road by your driveway.
MAILBOXES Hal Clark announced our mailman would like to deliver to boxes near our homes. Pro and Con opinions were made by Dick Cordovano and Hank Wagner. Mary Wright suggested we take a survey to see how many want mailboxes moved to our lots. Hal Neal, having dealt with this matter some years ago reported that the local postmaster said no to boxes by our driveways. We must go through Mr. Majeskey, Postmaster, and have enough people up here to get acceptance to moving our mailboxes located near Rte. 29A to the edge of our lots.
