CALL TO ORDER President Dick Bickle brought the September 2, 1995 Annual Meeting to order at 9:00am and reviewed the agenda. Monte Weinstein's minutes of the 1994 Annual Meeting were read by Nancy Brown. No additions or corrections were noted.

TREASURER'S REPORT Judy Doubleday read her Treasurer's report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1995. She noted that $100 was left in the Federation of Lakes dues/conference category because no one attended the conference this year. A fish stocking reimbursement of $400 from the Peck Family and $10 from a private donation has been received during the 1996 fiscal year. She noted that our actual expense for PLPA/Peck family joint activities ended up to be $684 after Peck family reimbursements in the 1996 fiscal year. The large expenditure shown for the Guidebook was pointed out to be expenses that landed in this fiscal year as opposed to 1994, in which it was budgeted. She summed up her report by noting that our 1995 budget ran only $287 over. Bob Lang made a motion to accept, with Ed Leary seconding the motion. Judy announced that copies of the most recent audit were available after the meeting.

PLPA HISTORY Stephanie Hogan, PLPA Historian, reported that she had brought and displayed Annual Dinner and Lawn Sale photographs.

WATER QUALITY Mark Verra reported that EnCon rates Peck's Lake "good" to "excellent" and that there has been a slight change for the better from 1992. He gave the following suggestions on how to maintain the lake's health:

  1. Avoid lawn fertilizers as 80 percent of what you put on your lawn ends up in the lake.
  2. Check your septic system. Organic matter in the lake also adds to the unwanted weed growth.
  3. Take steps to avoid too much rain run off in the lake.
  4. Discourage ducks and geese by not feeding them, their waste is a problem.
Pat Bennett gave a brief scenario of the problem Canadian Geese have caused at her home this summer. President Bickle described his plans for the formation of a Super Committee to address all aspects of water quality, usage, and safety.

FISH STOCKING Bob Allen reported that because there weren't as many funds, there were not many fish stocked as there were three to four years ago. Bill Nitsche took a census of the crappie fishermen in attendance.

REVIEW OF EVENTS
WINTER FESTIVAL Bill Nitsche reported a successful carnival, as quantified by hot dog sales, was held in February for the third year.
ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT Bob Allen reported 51 golfers participated. Both weather and prize donations were favorable. Anyone interested in making suggestions for future years is asked to get in touch with Bob.
ANNUAL DINNER Diane Lang noted that the dinner was a buffet held July 29 at Nick Stoner Inn A 50/50 raffle was held, and a DJ performed. Anyone with input for next year is asked to speak with Diane. President Bickle appointed her Chairperson for the upcoming year and noted that this event is not only for golfers.
BOAT PARADE Nancy Brown said the Boat Parade which was held July 2, attracted only six participants. Imperfect weather and possible lack of interest were considered as reasons for the poor participation. The Hoye family won first prize with "The Boat From Hell."
LAWN SALE Chairperson Stephanie Hogan reported a successful sale. any person interested in chairing that committee next year is asked to contact her.
SPRING CLEAN-UP Held the first weekend in May, the clean-ups were productive and enjoyable on both shores, according to President Bickle.
MEET YOUR CANDIDATES Chairperson Barbara Remington reported that "Meet Your Candidates" morning would be held at the Boat Barn at 9am, September 9. Thirteen candidates had been invited, and to date six had responded. It was noted that interested citizens, as well as Bleecker voters were welcome.
PLPA / PECK FAMILY EVENTS The mutually beneficial cooperation of the PLPA and the Pecks was noted by President Bickle. The "Bud Lite Ski Team", held on July 30, was well received. An estimated 1,000 people attended on shore, and 50-65 boats attended via water. The Dixieland Band which played at the Marina on August 20, was enjoyed by the small number that attended. The Peck Family participation in making the Winter Festival a success was noted.

1996 DIRECTORY A new directory reflecting the most current elections. and emergency numbers will be put together by the end of the year according to chairperson, Bob Fleming. Anyone with suggestions is asked to contact Bob or Dorothy Holly.

GUIDEBOOK President Bickle questioned John Mars about the need to update the Guidebook. Though John did not felt it was necessary, he asked residents to consider businesses who bought advertising in the Guidebook when they were in the market for services. Anyone who wishes to purchase additional copies can contact Dorothy Holly.

PECK FAMILY REPORT Wellington Peck congratulated everyone on working together, making it a good summer for all involved. He noted two concerns: anyone participating in tubing should conform to water skies' regulations and shooting ducks with BB guns was not a safe or acceptable practice. He congratulated Niagara Mohawk on their exceptional cooperation, and reported that the lake level was currently six inches higher than it was last year. A suggestion was made to thank NiMo with a letter, which Wellington stated he intended to do. Wellington added that work on a pavilion could start as soon as this fall. Alby Peck distributed handouts outlining the entertainment performing at the Marina in the afternoon. All were invited. In response to a question about the fishing this year, Alby reported it had remained consistently good, and he felt that the increasingly used "Catch and Release" philosophy was working well.

PRESIDENT'S REMARKS President Bickle asked residents to exercise caution in dealing with any sort of power lines, as the actions taken by some to clear the North shore Road after the July 15 storm, while appreciated, might have been dangerous. Esther Neal was thanked for her column in the newsletter, and asked to continue her efforts. Dot and Ron Holly, of Holly Business Services, were thanked for their contributions to the PLPA. President Bickle also announced that Larry Doubleday would be available after the meeting to field questions about taxes in the Town of Bleecker. A Peck's Lake team, coordinated by Earl Hogue was congratulated for winning third place in the Cancer Society's cross-country skiing event last winter. Plans for a Christmas Caroling event are in the works for the holidays.

Esther Neal invited anyone interested to join the "Peck's Park Historical Society." They are currently working to restore the old schoolhouse and intend to provide an awareness of the industries, such as lumbering and tanning, that were significant to this area in the past. Memberships range from $5 for an individual, $10 for a family, to $25 for a sustaining member. Alice Peck noted that an auction was scheduled for next year.

Judy Doubleday noted that in interest of the environment, we should consider bringing our own coffee cup to the Annual Meeting nest year. The suggestion that this could lead to coffee cup contests hushed the crowd as they considered the personal rewards that this might lead to.

President Bickle adjourned the meeting at 10:30am.
